Before we start, a quick history…
In 854 AD, Madrid was founded by Mohammed I of Granada. The city was to be part of the neighbouring village of Toledo: Madrid had to protect Toledo. A hundred years later, the Plaza Mayor was built, and 'only' since 1561 has Madrid been the capital of Spain.
Madrid is rich in museums, churches, beautiful buildings, parks, squares and monuments. With this walk through the Spanish capital I will take you along the most important sights.
